I agree that the American society has a mythology. The American cowboy is a great example of one. As a whole this country likes to think of itself as wild, tough, brave, and able to do what they want. This is our typical understanding of the cowboy. They rode around on horses, got into trouble with the law, looked down to authority, and wore their own style of clothing. Many American do view authority as a waste of time and being too strict, so they naturally work around it. We also have our own style of what we wear too, and many people inrurual towns mimic the look of the cowboy.

I dont agree with the statement. I dont believe that we, as Americans, portray the same image that the "cowboy" represents. Now I'm not saying that we dont resemble the characteristics that they have, but we dont utilize all of the things that we have that a cowboy might. Americans can be, though, hard-working and strive to get what they want in life, but on the other hand, some of us wait and see if it gets handed to us without having to do any work at all. I think that we could be like the cowboy if we werent so lazy, but we are, therefore, we are not just like the cowboy.
